The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today reportedly arrested mining baron and former minister G Janardhana Reddy and Obalapuram Mining Company, MD, B V Srinivas Reddy after conducting raids at their premises.
Tourism and Infrastructure Development Minister in the B S Y government, Janardhana Reddy was among those indicted by the Lokayukta report on illegal mining.
According to reports, there are allegations of irregularities in the mining activities of OMC owned by the brothers - G Karunakara Reddy, G Janardhana Reddy, G Somashekara Reddy. About 65 mining companies including the OMC are under the CBI scanner.
A CBI team from Hyderabad had earlier searched the houses of Srinivas Reddy and Janardhan Reddy's and seized some documents from the latter’s residence.
Reports further added that, the CBI team led by its DIG, P V Lakshminarayana has taken Janardhana Reddy and Srinivasa Reddy to Hyderabad for further questioning.
